Live CGL LOST 10 Year Finale Anniversary Interviews!

We Have to Go Back!

Saturday, May 23 is the 10 year anniversary of the LOST series finale. Time quite literally flies! To celebrate the show, the lasting legacy and impact – Cancer Gets Lost is thrilled to be hosting a series of live 30-60 minute interviews with a few familiar faces, exclusively on our Instagram account!

Live Chat Schedule!

  • 2pm PT/5pm ET: Jorge Garcia (Hurley)
  • 3pm PT/6pm ET: Michael Emerson (Ben Linus)
  • 4pm PT/7pm ET: Bobby Moynihan (LOST fan & proud owner of the fish biscuit machine! Saturday Night Live alum, currently starring in DuckTales, Nature Cat & Star Wars Resistance, among other VO projects!)

To watch our interviews live on May 23, simply log in to Instagram on your device of choice, follow @CancerGetsLost (if you’re not already!), and click on CGL’s logo at the top of your Instagram home page. Our logo should show as “Live” during the time slots mentioned above. You will have the opportunity to submit questions during each live session, and we will try to get to as many as we can during the allotted time!

All of our video chats with the actors will be saved permanently to our Instagram page after, in case you aren’t able to join us live! And no, we will not be posting them on FB, YouTube or any other location later.

FYI! Of course we inquired with everyone that worked on LOST that we are in contact with, so please do not @ any of the cast/crew on social media, asking why they are not involved! It is always a choice, this event falls on a weekend, and CGL does not have a personal connection to all that were involved behind the scenes & on screen.

We Have To Give Back!

Throughout the day on Saturday (not just during the live interviews), CGL will be promoting a variety of relevant health & human services-focused charities that are providing essential assistance during the pandemic, selected by each actor we are interviewing. We will be promoting the charities with links during each live chat (and links are also below), providing the opportunity for fans around to world to make donations if they are able.

**Because there are local food banks in most major cities, if you make a donation any time between now and Saturday, May 30 to any regional food bank, that counts as well!

Incentive time! If you make a donation in any amount to any of the charities above (from now through May 30) AND you forward CGL a copy of your email receipt to cancergetslost at gmail dot com, we will send you a very cool custom LOST keychain (kindly created and donated by Martin E.). Quantities are limited, and styles will be randomly chosen; no special requests please.

Plus! In a few weeks we will be placing all donation receipts in a hat and randomly selecting 23 fans to receive fun LOST items, including t-shirts, pins, signed photos and trading cards! Make as many separate donations as you like; each one will count as one entry each for our giveaway.

Shipping Details

Yes, this opportunity to give back is open for fans around the world to participate. However! For that reason, CGL does not anticipate shipping out the keychains and other LOST items until later this summer, at the very least. We have experienced issues recently with international shipping due to the pandemic and package restrictions in various countries, and are monitoring the situation to assess when it will be safe to ship abroad again. We appreciate your patience in advance, and will keep you posted when shipping commences!

Thank You!

We are grateful for your support not only of Cancer Gets Lost, but of the myriad non-profits out there, trying to make a difference in the world. Your kind contributions over the last 10 years via CGL charity auctions alone have resulted in over $200,000 of donations to various cancer charities. Absolutely astonishing and appreciated! And we are nowhere near done with this journey. We Have to Give Back!

Take care of yourselves, kind friends.

CGL Charity Auction to Benefit ALSF: Post-Auction Instructions

Thank you for participating in the Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation! Every cent raised will be donated to ALSF’s Emergency COVID-19 Fund for childhood cancer patients and their families during the pandemic, so we are tremendously grateful for your very kind donations!

Post-Auction Instructions

  • If you win an item in our online charity auction: PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT PAYMENT BEFORE YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM CGL (there is no way to pay on or via our external auction host site, 32auctions)!
  • CGL will email ALL winning bidders within 1 day of auction close, with payment link, instructions and item total(s).

** IMPORTANT NOTE: If the name on your Paypal account used to pay for your auction item is NOT your real full name (i.e. a nickname or name of business), you must let us know! CGL does not have access to our Paypal account, nor are we able to see any addresses you input into your Paypal. Our fiscal sponsor FJC sends us a report of payments to our Paypal account, but requires that they match the REAL FULL NAMES of winning bidders (for tax receipt purposes)!

Payment & Deadlines

  • In the email you receive after the auction closes, there will be a link to the Cancer Gets Lost PayPal account (the same one linked in the DONATE button and page on this site), for winning bidders to complete payment. Please do NOT go directly to the PayPal site or app to make payment; you MUST use the PayPal link on this website in order for the winning bid payments to be made to our fiscal sponsor FJC, for them to process. If you try to make a payment via the Paypal site or app, FJC will never see or process it.
  • CGL has non-profit, tax exempt status thanks to a fiscal sponsorship by FJC: A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds. You will see their name on our Paypal account, as they oversee it for us.
  • PLEASE make sure that you enter the exact amount when you make your PayPal payment! This includes your winning bid amount(s) AND shipping cost.
  • **AFTER you make your payment, please forward your PayPal email receipt to CGL (CGLauctions at gmail dot com) and include BOTH your billing and shipping addresses in the email, as we are not able to view or access them via PayPal! We need both addresses (if separate), for shipping and tax receipt purposes.
  • You will have 7 DAYS from the day you receive the email from CGL after the auction ends to complete payments for all items won in the 2020 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand!
  • You do not have to have a PayPal account, but we strongly recommend it. PayPal does offer the option to pay via credit card.

Shipping

  • Because of current world events and restrictions as a result of the pandemic, CGL will not be shipping out auction items until at least June 2020.
  • CGL’s fiscal sponsor FJC has to verify and process payments from winning bidders before we can start packaging and shipping out items. In order to avoid fraud, which sadly has been an issue for CGL in the past, we take extra time to confirm absolutely every aspect of each winning bidder’s payment information.
  • Shipping of all auction items will take place AFTER all payments have been received, confirmed and processed by FJC.
  • When possible, we combine shipping when multiple items are purchased by the same buyer. If one item requires a poster tube and the other requires a hardcover flat envelope, we will have to ship two separate packages to one buyer.
  • All packages will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail & USPS Priority Mail International (for Canada addresses only) and include both insurance and tracking.
  • Canadian participants: winning bidders are responsible for ANY/ALL Customs and Import Duties that may apply once your shipment arrives in Canada.
  • Shipping notifications with tracking info will be emailed to winning bidders when items are shipped out.

Tax Receipts

If you win an item in the 2020 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, you will automatically receive a tax receipt from our fiscal sponsor, FJC (which should arrive 6-8 weeks after the auction ends).

Donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

After all payments for items won in the 2020 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction have been received and processed, and Cancer Gets Lost has completed shipment of all items, we will then donate 100% of ALL auction proceeds to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation’s Emergency COVID-19 Fund. We will share the total amount of money to be donated once that amount has been finalized!

For those that may not have participated or won items in our charity auction, but are still interested in supporting the cause: you can of course make a donation in any amount directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Here is Cancer Gets Lost’s ALSF fundraising page; we do not earn or keep a cent – every donation made directly or via our auction will go to ALSF!

Questions?

  • For any shipping questions, please email us (CGLauctions at gmail dot com).
  • For all other inquiries, please tweet us @CancerGetsLOST and we will get back to you in a timely manner. Please keep in mind that we will not be able to respond to inquiries in the middle of the night. We are in the Pacific Daylight Time zone, in California (United States).

Thank You!

Thank you again for participating in the 2020 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation! We are honored to be able to donate 100% of our auction proceeds to ALSF and, thanks to your collective kindness – every cent will be contributed to assisting childhood cancer patients and their families during the pandemic.

Take care, kind friends!

CGL Charity Auction to Benefit Childhood Cancer Patients During the Pandemic

The honest truth is that children undergoing cancer treatments are immunocompromised, making them one of the groups most susceptible to COVID-19. But for children with cancer, treatment can’t stop – despite the pandemic. Many families are facing even more economic uncertainty during this time.

Cancer Gets Lost would like to help Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation provide critical services for these families. Therefore, we decided to host a new and smaller online charity auction – and 100% of all proceeds from this auction will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation COVID-19 Emergency Fund; every cent raised!

For those that may not be interested in bidding on any items in our charity auction but are still interested in supporting the cause, you can of course make a donation in any amount directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Here is Cancer Gets Lost’s ALSF fundraising page; we do not earn or keep a cent – every donation made directly or via our auction will go to ALSF!

PRE-AUCTION DETAILS

Our charity auction is now open in Preview Mode and for registration, and the auction itself will be open from Friday, May 1 at 8:15am PT through Saturday, May 9 at 4pm PT! LINK: https://www.32auctions.com/CGL2020

All items in this particular CGL charity auction are photos, art and small posters from some of your favorite TV shows! All are kindly signed by a variety of actors, producers and more. To preview many of these items, please see the slideshow at the end of this post!

SHIPPING RESTRICTIONS & DELAYS

BEFORE you register to participate in this CGL charity auction, please note the following!

  1. Due to CGL’s recent & complicated international shipping issues because of world events, this auction is open to U.S. & Canada residents only.
  2. However! If you live outside of the U.S./Canada AND plan to attend a Con we are attending in future, we will hand-carry items to deliver to you in person (if you don’t mind waiting). This includes the next Conageddon, ATX TV Festival and SDCC. Please contact us in advance of registration if so!
  3. ALL shipping will be delayed, likely to take place in June. Subject to change, given the current state of the world. We appreciate your patience in advance!
  4. We have decided to provide FREE shipping for all items in this charity auction! All items will be shipped in rigid envelopes or poster tubes, and include both insurance and tracking.

POST-AUCTION DETAILS

If you bid on & win an item in this charity auction – following close of auction, you will be directed back here to our website for all payment details and instructions. CGL accepts PayPal only, via our fiscal sponsor FJC, and the donation link lives here on CGL’s site only (you will not be making any payments via 32auctions, our auction host site).

FUTURE CGL CHARITY AUCTIONS

We are very aware and respectful of the fact that everyone is trying to save money right now, or at least cutting back on non-essential purchases. Please know that there will be plenty of opportunities in the future for everyone to participate in our charity auctions & bid on similar items!

Thank you so much for your interest in supporting CGL and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for childhood cancer.

Let’s all Bid For The Kids!

2016 Cancer Gets LOST Charity Auction: The Numbers!

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of fans across the globe, as well as all that contributed and/or signed items, Cancer Gets LOST raised an absolutely incredible amount of money to donate to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer!

2016 Cancer Gets LOST Charity Auction: The Numbers

454: auction items

762: registered bidders

225: winning bidders

$65,000 (auction net proceeds): Cancer Gets LOST donating to Alex’s Lemonade Stand!

Net Proceeds

In the interest of transparency, and because many of you have inquired, we felt that it was important to elaborate about what it means to donate the net proceeds from our charity auction, and the costs involved with hosting such a large charitable endeavor.

100% of the net proceeds from the 2016 CGL auction are being donated as we speak to Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Every other cent raised in this auction was used to pay the following: auction hosting, catalog, photography, shipping services, Paypal fees and fiscal sponsor fees. PLUS, Cancer Gets LOST paid for ALL Buyers Premiums on our end, saving auction buyers an extra 20% per item won in the auction.

* Cancer Gets LOST made/took $0 from our charity auction.

Thank You Again!

We are so grateful for your support of CGL, and thankful for all of your support, retweets, link shares and positive encouragement along the way and throughout the auction.

2017 and Beyond

Our next two charity auctions will take place on site at fan events. CGL will be hosting smaller silent auctions at Unity Days 2017 in January (Vancouver) and LOST 2017 in October (Hawaii)! In the meantime, we have also already started working on our big 2018 online charity auction, and appreciate that so many of you have already reached out to donate items or assist us with autograph acquisitions.

Tweet us at any time if you have any questions, or would like to contribute to a future auction in some capacity! @CancerGetsLOST

Post-Auction Instructions & Notes of Gratitude!

Thank you so very much for your spectacular participation in our charity auction! As you know, the 2016 Cancer Gets LOST Charity Auction came to a close on Saturday. It was a rousing success, thanks to the tremendous generosity of fans bidding from across the globe!

Below you will find a list of the steps to follow if you’ve won items in our auction, as well as special acknowledgements of those who went above and beyond to bring the CGL auction to life.

BUYER RESPONSIBILITY

  • Within the next two days, Blacksparrow will be emailing all winning bidders an itemized invoice for items won in the 2016 CGL Charity Auction, including shipping costs. * If you win multiple items, they will be combined on one invoice. In the email, there will be a link to the Cancer Gets LOST Paypal account, for winning bidders to complete payment. You will have 7 working days to complete payments for items won.
  • PLEASE make sure that you enter the exact amount from your invoice when you make your Paypal payment! You do not have to have a Paypal account, but we strongly recommend it. Paypal does offer the option to pay via credit card.

TAXES

  • Residents of California must pay applicable sales tax (9%) on final bid prices of items.
  • If you won an item in the CGL auction valued at over $75, you will automatically receive a tax receipt from CGL/FJC. If you won an item valued under $75, you may request a tax receipt from FJC (please email CGL: cancergetslost at gmail dot com), or your Paypal receipt can serve as U.S. tax substantiation.

* LOCAL PICK-UP OF AUCTION ITEMS *

If you live in the Los Angeles area or are visiting soon and would like to pick up your auction items in person, PLEASE NOTE: you must pay applicable CA sales tax (9%) on final bid prices of items, even if you live out of state! * Please contact Blacksparrow Inc. ASAP if you’d like to schedule local pickup (info at blacksparrowinc dot com) and to clarify further.

SHIPPING OF AUCTION ITEMS

Because CGL is a 2-person operation and CGL’s charitable fiscal sponsor FJC, a 501c(3) public charity, has to process all payments to the CGL Paypal account, please note that shipment of your items from Blacksparrow will take place throughout September and early October. We appreciate your patience in advance!

  • All domestic packages will be shipped via USPS or FedEx, depending on expediency and costs. Blacksparrow will choose the best option for you at the most reasonable cost. All packages will include insurance and tracking. Shipping notifications with tracking info will be emailed to winning bidders.
  • All overseas packages will be shipped via USPS International First Class (for packages weighing less than 3 pounds), or USPS International Priority (for packages 3 pounds or higher).
  • * For Canadian auction item winners, if you are concerned about the current postal strike – Blacksparrow would be happy to hold your items until the issues are resolved. Just let them know!
  • All oversize items, e.g., large wall panel-size posters on foam core, will require 3rd party shipping (Box Brothers, Freighters & Craters, etc.).

Every item from the CGL Charity Auction will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

ALEX’S LEMONADE STAND FOUNDATION FOR CHILDHOOD CANCER

Once all auction payments have been made, items have been shipped and details have been finalized with our fiscal sponsor FJC, Cancer Gets LOST will be donating 100% of the net proceeds from this charity auction to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer! We will let you know the total amount donated once all of the details above have been finalized.

THANK YOU!

A note of sincere gratitude goes out to CGL’s fiscal sponsor FJC – and to Program Manager Nikki Carpenter, who works hard to ensure that all of the details behinds the scenes run smoothly for us!

We were able to successfully and seamlessly build this auction because of our auction host and friends at Blacksparrow, Inc. Huge thanks to Fong and Erica for working with us for the last two years to bring this charity auction to life, for their beautiful photography and catalog, meticulous auction details and shipping management!

Our long LOST friends Showrunner/Executive Producer Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers) and Supervising Producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach (The 100, Xena) each donated and signed an absolute treasure trove of items to CGL for this charity auction, and we are forever grateful for their amazing contributions! Former LOST Showrunner/Executive Producer Carlton Cuse (Bates Motel, Colony, The Strain) and Jorge Garcia (Hawaii Five-O) also kindly signed stacks of items for our auction. And LOST Executive Producers Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis (Once Upon a Time) continue to spoil CGL with their kind item donations and autographs!

Once again we are stunned by the sheer number of items that Bad Robot generously donated to CGL for this charity auction from several of their shows – thank you very much, Noreen O’Toole!

The cast, crew and creative team from The 100 went above and beyond for Cancer Gets LOST this year, and we so appreciate their many item and autograph contributions to this auction. In particular, we must thank The 100 Writers Room, Props Department and both Eliza Taylor & Lindsey Morgan for their ongoing generosity and friendship!

Paul McQue is a legend in both the LOST and Star Wars communities, and with good reason! He is a lovely, kind and generous human being and terrific friend to CGL; Paul traveled the globe to acquire and get rare items signed for our auction, and we are honored that he donates his contributions to our cause.

CGL’s co-founder Jared “Jay” Wong works for Walker Stalker Con and Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in his spare time, and ensures that items from shows and films represented at those events are signed for our auctions! We would like to especially thank Jay, The Walking Dead cast for always signing many items for us, and the folks that run WSC & HVFF for partnering with CGL for the greater good.

To Bobby Moynihan, John BernsteinSesame Street and Warner Brothers Television, we extend our gratitude for your fantastic auction item donations and support!

FANS!

To every single person from all fandoms that donated an item or autograph to our charity auction, know that we are so grateful for your contributions and appreciate them more than you know! Your generosity fuels our desire to continue channeling fans toward the greater good, and we are only able to do so because of your ongoing support.

FYI: there is a Thank You tab on this site where we tried to list out every single person that donated items, their time or autographs for our charity auction!

2017 & BEYOND

Once we have finalized and closed the 2016 CGL Charity Auction, we will start to focus on two events in 2017: the CGL Charity Concert at the Unity Days Con (January in Vancouver), and the onsite CGL silent auction we are hosting at LOST 2017 next October in Hawaii!

CONTRIBUTING TO CGL

Year-round, we are open to item donations, from custom art and handcrafted items to screen-used props, signed scripts & photos, trading cards, limited edition prints & posters, sealed collectibles and more! If you are interested in possibly contributing something for our next major online charity auction (slated for 2018; date TBD), please email us any time: cancergetslost at gmail dot com!

If you would like to support Cancer Gets LOST by making a financial donation to help us cover operating costs, we have a Paypal button at the top right of this and every page on our site.

If you make a contribution in any amount, we will send you a CGL wristband!

Thank you again for your outstanding support, retweets/social media posts & shares, generous item donations and incredible bids in our charity auction!

If you’re going to either the September 22 or September 23 “We Have to Go Back” LOST Concerts with Michael Giacchino in Los Angeles, we are attending both nights and will see you there in a few weeks!

  • You do not have to have a Paypal account, but we strongly recommend it. Paypal does offer the option to pay via credit card.
  • Because of generous and ongoing donations to Cancer Gets LOST, CGL is covering all Buyer’s Premiums for our 2016 Charity Auction, saving winning bidders a substantial fee upon auction’s end! Winning bidders will only be responsible for paying the final sales costs and shipping costs of items (plus sales tax if resident of CA; see below).

After Auction Closes: Shipping

  • Because CGL is a 2-person operation and CGL’s charitable fiscal sponsor FJC, a 501c(3) public charity, has to process all payments to the CGL Paypal account, please note that shipment of your items from Blacksparrow will take place throughout September and early October. We appreciate your patience in advance; with over 450 auction items, there will be a tremendous amount to process!
  • All oversize items, e.g., large wall panel-size posters on foam core, will require 3rd party shipping (Box Brothers, Freighters & Craters, etc.).
  • Local pickup of items will be available (Glendale, CA) for those in the Los Angeles area!

Taxes

  • Only residents of California must pay applicable sales tax (9%) on final bid price of item.
  • If you win an item in the CGL auction valued at over $75, you will automatically receive a tax receipt from CGL/FJC. If you win an item valued under $75, you may request a tax receipt from CGL/FJC, or your Paypal receipt can serve as U.S. tax substantiation.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer

  • After payments for all items purchased in the 2016 CGL Charity Auction have been received and processed, AND Blacksparrow has completed shipment of all items, CGL will then donate 100% of the auction net proceeds to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. We will share the total amount of money donated once that amount has been finalized!

Questions?

  • For any shipping questions, please email (info at blacksparrowinc dot com) or call Blacksparrow (818-937-9399).
  • For all other inquiries, please email (cancergetslost at gmail dot com) or tweet us @CancerGetsLOST and we will get back to you in a timely manner.

* If you are interested in contributing to Cancer Gets LOST at any time, to help us cover our operating costs, you may make a donation via our CGL Paypal button on the upper right side of this page!

Thank you for your interest in and support of CGL. May the force be with you, and may the odds be ever in your favor as you bid on items in our 2016 Charity Auction!

2016 CGL Charity Auction: Logistics!

Just a few of the many items signed by The Walking Dead cast!

As you know, our 2016 Cancer Gets LOST Charity Auction opens online to fans around the world on August 15, 2016 – featuring almost 500 items from 45 TV shows and 15 films, many of which are signed by actors, producers and writers!

The auction will be hosted by Blacksparrow Auctions and 100% of the net proceeds from the CGL auction will be donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand raises awareness of childhood cancer causes, funds cutting-edge research projects and creates travel programs to support families of children receiving treatment.

CONTRIBUTIONS

For those of you interested in supporting Cancer Gets LOST but aren’t necessarily interested in bidding on memorabilia in the auction, there is always the option to make a tax-deductible contribution to CGL via FJC, our fiscal sponsor! On the top right of the CGL homepage, there is a “Donate to CGL via PayPal” button, for your convenience. Financial donations help offset the costs of shipping and auction hosting fees, and we appreciate every cent contributed toward the cause.

If you’re interested in donating an item to this or future CGL charity auctions, we are always grateful for and open to pop culture contributions! Please contact us via email (cancergetslost at gmail dot com) any time. The deadline for 2016 auction item donations is July 24 (the final day of SDCC), as catalog and auction item photography will be well underway (because the auction opens on 8.15.16)!

CHARITY AUCTION TRANSPARENCY

In previous online CGL charity auctions, and as is standard in all online charity auctions, winning bidders were required to pay a Buyer’s Premium to the auction host – in addition to the winning bid and shipping (usually this ranges from 15-20%). For the 2016 Cancer Gets LOST Charity Auction, CGL has decided to cover ALL Buyer’s Premium fees – which means that when you win an item in our auction, you will ONLY have to pay the final bid price plus shipping!

For example: in 2014, if you bid on and won a poster in the CGL Charity Auction for $100, you paid $100 + shipping + a 20% premium ($20). In our 2016 auction, if you win a poster for $100, you ONLY pay $100 + shipping.

And FYI: Blacksparrow Auctions does offer combined shipping when multiple items are purchased by the same buyer! Shipping of all auction items will take place throughout the month of September, following payments received.
