Donating to Cancer Gets LOST!

Dharma Pinot Noir, Cabernet & Chardonnay

Hello friends! While it is not our style to ask for donations to Cancer Gets LOST directly, we thought we’d let you know about a very cool item that we’re giving away to those that do contribute $10 or more to CGL.

Huge thanks to Martin Evans for creating and donating 8 different styles of custom LOST keychains, which we are thrilled to now be able to give away to kind friends of CGL that contribute to our ongoing charitable endeavors!

DONATIONS

If at any time you would like to make a donation to CGL, you will find the DONATE button at the top of our home page. Then when you click on the Donate button on that page and the Paypal page opens, you will see the name of our fiscal sponsor, FJC: A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds (they run our Paypal account). If you have a Paypal account, you will see the log-in on that page. If you do not have a Paypal account, you can still make a donation to CGL using your credit card via Paypal!

  • Minimum $10 donation = 1 keychain. $20 donation = 2 keychains, etc. You’re welcome to donate more for each, of course. 🙂
  • No limit to number of keychains/styles per person.
  • These keychains are NOT for sale; they are to be used in this giveaway only.

* Please note: a donation to CGL is only tax-deductible if the donation exceeds $250. Therefore, if you make a donation for less than that amount, you will not receive a tax receipt from FJC.

Fish Biscuit and Apollo Bar

*HOW DO I PICK MY KEYCHAINS? (YOU MIGHT BE ASKING)*

Please forward your email receipt to us (cancergetslost at gmail dot com), and note your shipping address plus keychain preferences (number of keychains, and styles). It will be first come, first served in terms of keychains available. Our giveaway will remain open until supplies run out, and we will let you know when that is about to happen. As always, we encourage that you follow CGL on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for more frequent updates and auction item previews!

KEYCHAINS AVAILABLE

Every custom LOST keychain is packaged in plastic, with a Dharma ribbon atop each and a CGL sticker on the back.

CGL is paying for the packaging and shipment of all keychains, so we do appreciate your patience in advance. And yes, we will ship internationally!

THANK YOU!

We are grateful for any contribution you make to Cancer Gets LOST, as it helps to cover our operating expenses and allows us to continue hosting the best possible charity auctions that we can!

As always, if you’re interested in donating a potential auction item to CGL, please let us know via email, Twitter or FB! We are open to memorabilia from popular movies and television shows, and the item donation cut-off for our next online auction will be March 1, 2018. The official launch date for our huge 2018 online charity auction, featuring 500 items from 50+ shows and 15+ films is August 1, 2018!

With genuine appreciation for your support of CGL,

Cancer Gets LOST at San Diego Comic-Con!

If you’re planning to attend San Diego Comic-Con this week, or will just be in town for related activities – please join Cancer Gets LOST for a very casual fan meet-up on Saturday, July 22 from 4pm – 5:30pm outside of the San Diego Central Library (330 Park Blvd)! See map below.

We were unable to afford or officially reserve a spot close to the Con for this small gathering, so we decided to set a public meeting place that was within walking distance of the Convention Center. The library is a block away from Petco Park, and we plan to meet outside in the library courtyard. Given that we have no way of anticipating library traffic and Con overflow crowds at neighboring events during that time, we may have shift (as a group) to a space in front of the library if need be!

Whether you just want to meet fellow fans from a wide variety of fandoms or you’d like to donate an item you acquired from SDCC to CGL for a future charity auction (NO pressure whatsoever!), we hope you can stop by. We will have CGL wristbands for everyone and random giveaways of items from your favorite shows (i.e. The 100, LOST, Orphan Black, Wynonna Earp & more; some signed)!

ITEM DONATIONS FOR CGL CHARITY AUCTIONS

Every year at SDCC, Warner Brothers has a lottery process for a limited number of fans to attend autograph sessions with their WB TV and film casts at their giant booth on the convention center exhibition floor. If you happen to receive a wristband for a WB signing and do NOT wish to keep the poster you are given to get signed, CGL would love any of these signed posters for future charity auctions! Just tweet us (@CancerGetsLOST) during the Con and we can try to arrange to meet you if you’re not able to join us at our meet-up on Saturday.

CGL’s Top TV show wish list for signed items from SDCC

The Defenders (Marvel/Netflix), Fear the Walking Dead (AMC), Game of Thrones (Warner Brothers/HBO), Outlander (STARZ) , Westworld (Warner Brothers/HBO)

Official SDCC 2017 autograph procedures/policies and schedule can be found here on their website.

If you are lucky enough to secure a wristband to the very limited Fear the Walking Dead signing that AMC hosts at SDCC on Saturday – and are not planning to keep the FTWD poster that the cast signs, CGL is definitely interested! [We are fortunate to already have many charity auction items kindly signed by The Walking Dead cast, thanks to the generosity of our friends at Walker Stalker Con.]

Honestly, if anyone at SDCC finds themselves with extra items from any popular shows or films – we would be honored if you considered donating them to Cancer Gets LOST! As always, we have no expectations and there is zero pressure to do so. If you would ever prefer to make a financial contribution to CGL in any amount, please visit our official Donation page for details.

UPCOMING CGL CHARITY AUCTIONS

We will be hosting a huge online global CGL charity auction in the summer or fall of 2018 featuring rare and signed pop culture memorabilia, and will be donating 100% of the net proceeds to a designated cancer charity (TBD). We already have auction items from over 50 TV shows in that auction, and are always open to more of a variety! In October of this year, we will be on site in Hawaii to host a silent charity auction of LOST items at LOST 2017 (a fan event on Oahu), donating 100% of the proceeds to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. And as we did in early 2017, we are hosting another onsite silent charity auction of The 100 items at Unity Days 2018 in Vancouver – also donating 100% of the proceeds to PanCAN!

LOST Panel at SDCC

If you’re a LOST fan, join us at Jay and Jack’s annual SDCC LOST panel in the Neil Morgan Auditorium at the San Diego Library at 3pm, right before our CGL meet-up! We will be discussing the legacy of our favorite show, reminiscing about the early days of podcasting and theorizing, and sharing details about upcoming Cancer Gets LOST charity auctions!

We look forward to seeing you at SDCC, and will be there from Wednesday – Sunday. Look for us and a few of our friends in Cancer Gets LOST shirts throughout the Con.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of our charitable endeavors!

We Have To Go Back! The LOST Concert Ticket Giveaway

As many of you know, LOST composer Michael Giacchino recently announced two “We Have to Go Back” LOST concerts in Los Angeles. Cancer Gets LOST purchased 2 tickets to the sold-out Friday night concert, and we would love to give the tickets to a LOST fan that is currently battling cancer or is a cancer survivor (and their guest of choice).

The concert will take place at the Ford Theatre in LA on Friday, September 23, 2016. In order to be eligible for the ticket giveaway, you would need to guarantee that you will be able to attend the concert on that date, and provide all transportation and accommodation yourself. *CGL is only providing 2 concert tickets and a stacked parking pass for one vehicle.

If you are a LOST fan and fit the description above, and are interested in entering to win the 2 LOST concert tickets, all we ask is that you please email me your name and contact information by May 31, 2016 (CancerGetsLOST at gmail dot com)! Of course we respect your privacy, and have no intention of posting or sharing any information contained in your emails. I will put all of the eligible names into a hat on 6/1/16, randomly select a name to win the tickets, and then contact the winner (and announce on Twitter).

It is an honor for us to be able to share this experience with fellow LOST fans; to attend this amazing event with those that inspire us every day to continue channeling the generosity of passionate fans and raise money for cancer research and cures.

We look forward to seeing you there, because we ALWAYS have to go back!

Numbers: The 4.8.15 CGL Fundraiser! (*UPDATED!)

Our goal with Cancer Gets LOST is always to channel incredibly generous fans toward the greater good. With that in mind, we are supporting two amazing cancer charities this month via a small online CGL fundraiser beginning today (4/8/15, the best LOST date yet) and have fun incentives to encourage your contributions!

This will be EASY, and we are thrilled to be able to send you something rather cool when you make a donation.

If you live in the U.S. or Canada and you make a $15.16 donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand OR if you live in the UK and make a £10.80 donation to The Brain Tumour Charity by 4.23.15 – we will send you a limited edition numbered LOST badge set!

Created and kindly donated by RetroCo.com (which just happens to be run by LOST fans) exclusively for CGL, this edition is limited to 108 box sets. Each set contains 8 different LOST pins, every set contains different pins and no two sets are alike!

The charities selected to benefit from your generosity on this occasion both do amazing work; we chose Alex’s Lemonade Stand – a terrific organization working to eradicate childhood cancer, and Chris from RetroCo chose The Brain Tumour Charity because they raise vital funds for the scientific and clinical research of brain tumors.

At this time we have 60 of these badge sets available to those who make online donations to Alex’s Lemonade Stand in the U.S./Canada and 15 badge sets available to those who make donations to The Brain Tumour Charity in the UK.

We anticipate that these are going to be quite popular, so we must limit them to ONE SET PER PERSON/DONATION. First come, first claimed! And no, none of of THE numbers are available. 🙂

If you live outside the U.S./Canada/UK, you can still donate to either cancer charity organization, but you will need to be able to provide an address within these countries for us to ship to.

This giveaway will be open from 4.8.15 through 4.23.15. Please allow several weeks for shipping and delivery. We will cover ALL postage costs! Every penny YOU donate will obviously go directly to the charities.

* * UPDATE: As of 6pm PST on 4/9/15, all 60 of the badge sets have been claimed for donations to Alex’s Lemonade Stand!! Thank you all everybody SO much for your amazing generosity! Please keep in mind that we are receiving donations to Alex’s from folks not using our link, but their contributions count too! If we receive their receipts, they are considered in the same order received as all others.

If you made a donation anyway – we do appreciate it!! We simply do not have any more sets to give away for contributions! HOWEVER, if you make a donation to either charity by 4/23/15, you are still eligible to win one of the bonus incentive items below!

But we wanted to sweeten the pot: if you make a donation larger than what we are suggesting, in a LOST related amount ($23.42/$42.23, etc. or £16.23 or more), you will be automatically entered to win ONE of the following bonus incentive items:

  • Autographed Harold Perrineau (Michael) LOST trading card
  • Autographed Sterling Beaumon (young Ben Linus) LOST trading card
  • Autographed Mira Furlan (Rousseau) photo
  • Bad Robot mystery playing cards [2 decks available; First edition & Black edition]
  • LOST numbers wristbands (Jac Vanek) [2 available!]
  • Custom framed LOST character print (artist: Michael B. Myers Jr.)

Thanks to MJ Carpenter for donating the framed print to the cause!

To be eligible to receive a limited edition LOST badge set, simply forward your email receipts from Alex’s Lemonade Stand or The Brain Tumour Charity to us (cancergetslost at gmail dot com). We will respond to let you know we’ve received it, and let you know if badge sets are still available by that time.

* Please be patient, as we are overwhelmed by the sheer number of amazing responses thus far! We will email you back to let you know we’ve received your receipt!

To sum up:

  • $15.16 donation or more to Alex’s Lemonade Stand (U.S./Canada)
  • £10.80 donation or more to The Brain Tumour Charity (UK)
  • 60 badge sets available in the U.S./Canada
  • 15 badge sets available in the UK
  • Limit 1 set per person/donation
  • Email receipt to: cancergetslost at gmail dot com (by 4.23.15), and please include your preferred shipping address

A huge note of gratitude to Chris L. for donating these custom badge sets; without him, this fundraiser would not be possible!

Thank you so much for your consideration and support of these two wonderful cancer charity organizations.

Namaste,

Jo

LOST 10th Anniversary Reunion at PaleyFest – Ticket Giveaway!

[photo courtesy of The Paley Center for Media, from PaleyFest 2010]
Hello friends, and happy new year! We are so excited to have had the opportunity to purchase a few extra tickets to the LOST 10th Anniversary Reunion panel at PaleyFest in Los Angeles. We acquired 2 pairs of tickets to give away to two very special LOST fans! The event will take place on Sunday, March 16 at 7pm PST, at the Dolby Theater.

Who is eligible to receive these tickets? We are seeking two specific Candidates to attend the panel – LOST fans that are either currently battling cancer or are cancer survivors.

If you fit the description above, and are a huge fan of LOST –  please email Jo (jo at jopinionated dot com) by Friday, January 31. You may also nominate a LOST fan with cancer or a cancer survivor, as long as they wouldn’t mind and will be able to attend* if selected. We would love to give these tickets to true LOST fans that have stories about how the show has affected their life and even perhaps their health. Of course we appreciate your privacy and have no intention of posting or sharing any information contained in your emails.

* While it isn’t necessary that those who win the tickets live in the Los Angeles area, they MUST be able to provide their own transportation, lodging, etc. for themselves and their guests. Cancer Gets LOST is only providing two LOST panel tickets to two winners. In addition, the two fans that win the tickets must be able to guarantee that they can attend (barring any medical emergencies of course); we can only transfer the tickets to another name one time.

We will randomly draw 2 names from a hat after all entries have been received, and notify the winners by February 1.

It will be a great honor for us to share this experience with fellow LOST fans, to attend this incredible event with those who inspire us every day to continue channeling the generosity of passionate fans into raising money for cancer research and cures.

Namaste!

Jared and Jo

Walkabout

As many of you know, we were inspired to create Cancer Gets LOST because of my dear friend Jackie, who lost her courageous battle against brain cancer in August of last year. We are continuing to honor her fight and spirit, and I will be participating in the Bay Area Brain Tumor Walk in May along with Jackie’s family and friends.

We realize that we asked for donations to her cause (the National Brain Tumor Society) last year, but we feel that it is our duty and honor to continue fundraising for Jackie’s charity of choice. And we are thrilled to be able to offer a bit of an incentive to encourage contributions!

If you make a donation in any amount directly to Jackie’s Brain Tumor Walk (Team Toast) by May 4, we will send you a Cancer Gets LOST wristband AND a 14″x20″Jacob Loves You poster (see above).

If you make a donation of $40 or more, we will send you a limited edition (only 23 of each were created), numbered Jason Shorr 13″x19″ LOST poster. Your choice would be as follows: “It Worked” (featuring Juliet and Sawyer, above) or “I Remember” (featuring Jin and Sun, below). We have 13 and 15 posters of each left, respectively.

If you are interested in making a donation in any amount to Jackie’s Brain Tumor Walk team, simply forward me your email receipt (jo at jopinionated dot com) by May 4 with a shipping address for the poster. We really appreciate your consideration. Namaste!

– Jo

Help Us Help Alex (Not Rousseau)!

As you know, earlier this year we raised over $60,000 for the National Brain Tumor Society through an online auction, live webcast and fundraising party – all of which was a direct result of your overwhelming and very appreciated generosity!

For those who are interested in making another (or first time) charitable, tax-deductible contribution before the end of 2012, we would like to offer you an incentive! Among the many causes that Cancer Gets LOST supports, we are a huge fan of Alex’s Lemonade Stand – an organization dedicated to childhood cancer research. If you make a donation to their foundation in any amount by December 31, 2012 and email us your receipt, you will be automatically entered to receive one of the following items in return:

  • 1 limited edition “Jacob Loves You” 14×20 mini-poster, created by Cancer Gets LOST co-founder Jared W! [50 available] – OR –

  • 1 LOST S6 DVD set, donated & signed by Damon Lindelof [10 available]

PLUS: everyone who makes a donation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand in any amount will receive one of our limited edition CGL wristbands!

To recap:

1) Make a donation directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand via this link by December 31, 2012

2) Email your receipt to jo [at] jopinionated [dot] com

3) PLEASE note in your email which item you’d like the most, in order (i.e. 1 – DVD, 2 – poster). We will try to accommodate your preferences but supplies are very limited and names will be drawn randomly!

4) Include your shipping address. Apologies, but this giveaway is open ONLY within the U.S.; our personal shipping funds are depleted from the auction, and we can only afford to ship within the U.S. IF you live outside of the U.S., make a donation and are willing to pay for shipping via Paypal, we can make an exception.

Thank you in advance for your consideration!

Namaste,

Jo

SATURDAY, AUGUST 25

Noon-4pm PST: live streaming charity webcast w/LOST alum
7pm-11pm PST: fundraising event at Monk Space in LA

WEBCAST

Tune in this Saturday from noon-4pm PST as we host a live webcast with LOST alum (both cast and creative team)! Although the webcast will be streaming live online for everyone around the world to watch, the event itself is closed to the public.

During the webcast, we will be reminiscing and catching up with LOST actors and editors/producers/writers, as well as debuting a series of original videos. We will also be promoting items in our charity auction, as well as reminding viewers that they can make donations directly to the National Brain Tumor Society through specific links (which will be released tomorrow) that will count toward our overall fundraising efforts! As you know, 100% of the proceeds raised during the auction, webcast and fundraising event will benefit the NBTS. Stay tuned for details about the limited edition items we will be giving out in exchange for charitable contributions to the NBTS!

* You don’t need to be a LOST fan to enjoy the broadcast; the guests will be talking about their new films and television shows, and it is very likely that a variety of pop culture topics will be discussed!

Bookmark the official Cancer Gets LOST live webcast stream in advance! {In the rare event of Livestream network outage, here is our backup webcast URL!}

FUNDRAISING EVENT

On Saturday at Monk Space in Los Angeles from 7pm-11pm PST, we are hosting an official Cancer Gets LOST fundraising event for the NBTS! We will be featuring LOST trivia, giveaways and more, and items from our charity auction will be on display.

You don’t have to actually be a LOST fan to attend; the event is open to everyone, and will be a fantastic social gathering of fellow pop culture nerds – all for a great cause!

ADMISSION/RAFFLE TICKETS

No advance tickets are necessary, and admission at the door will be $20 ($10 for guests under 21). 100% of all money collected will be donated to the National Brain Tumor Society! We will have separate wristbands for guests over and under 21, so please bring your ID. You may want to bring extra cash, as we have many LOST and other TV related goodies to give away via $2 raffle tickets (proceeds benefit the NBTS), there will be 2 limited edition posters for sale (also to benefit the NBTS), and there will be a food truck outside of the venue (Philly Please)!

ADDRESS & PARKING

Due to space limitations and fire codes that we must observe at the venue, only 200 guests will be allowed inside at any time. Please keep this in mind when planning your travel and evening! There is ample street parking along Western Avenue, and you will see a Cancer Gets LOST banner hanging on the outside of Monk Space. Please read street signs carefully, as the venue itself is on a primarily residential street.

Monk Space: 4414 West 2nd Street, Los Angeles CA 90004

AUTOGRAPHS

** Because our #1 goal is to raise money for the cause through the charity auction, we kindly ask that you please do NOT bring items to the event to get signed by special guests – as doing so would essentially be countering our fundraising efforts via the auction. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

RSVP

Please RSVP to the event on our Facebook event page, or email party[at]cancergetslost[dot]org.

SPECIAL GUESTS

Special guests will be invited, but we cannot guarantee appearances ahead of time. However, they will be announced here as they are confirmed. We are thrilled to announce that actress Andrea Gabriel will be joining us! As you know, she played Nadia on LOST for 6 seasons. She also just filmed an arc on Gossip Girl and will be appearing in Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.

Namaste,

Jared & Jo
