2024 CGL Post-Auction Instructions!
After the 2024 CGL Online Charity Auction has ended and if you win an item: we have a few very important details for you!
*CGL will be emailing itemized invoices to ALL winning bidders within 48 HOURS of auction close (by end of day on Monday, May 20), including item totals + shipping costs. Thank you in advance for your patience!
**Please do NOT attempt to make an auction payment of any kind before you receive your CGL invoice. Not via our site (yet), and never via iCollector or the PayPal app and site.
1) Please CHECK THE EMAIL YOU REGISTERED WITH, within 2 days of auction close.
2) Return to this site and read our Post Auction Instructions below for details about making payments to the CGL PayPal account for auction items won.
3) AFTER you’ve received your official CGL invoice from us within 48 hours of auction close, AND you’ve made your payment - please forward your PayPal email receipt to us so that we can keep track of all charity auction payments. [Our fiscal sponsor *FJC manages our PayPal account, so we are unable to see your contributions until a few days after the fact.]
4) Please email us both your shipping AND billing addresses; we need both, for shipping and tax receipt purposes!
*CGL is a 501c(3)-sponsored organization. Our fiscal sponsor FJC, A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds, is a 501c(3) public charity that provides management of charitable giving for small organizations like ours. They oversee and manage all of the financials for Cancer Gets Lost.
POST AUCTION PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS
In the email with your invoice, there will be a link to the Cancer Gets Lost PayPal account (the same one linked in the DONATE button on CGL's website above), for winning bidders to complete payment.
Payment is expected in full within 7 calendar days of the day the invoice is received. The only acceptable method of payment is PayPal, which must be made directly to the CGL PayPal account, accessible externally and only on our website. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you will be able to use a credit card via PayPal.
**Please do NOT go directly to the PayPal site or app to make payment; you MUST use the PayPal link on our website in order for the winning bid payments to be made to FJC, for them to process. If you try to make a payment via the PayPal site or app, FJC will never see or process it.
Please make sure that you enter the exact amount from your invoice when you make your PayPal payment! This includes winning bid amount(s) and shipping costs.
When you click on the Donate button on our website to pay for your auction item(s), please note: a new window or tab will open and it will say:
“Donate to FJC - A Foundation of Philanthropic Funds/Cancer Gets Lost.”
That is the correct location to make your CGL charity auction payment! FJC oversees the CGL PayPal account exclusively.
**IMPORTANT NOTE: If the name on your PayPal account used to pay for your auction item is NOT your real full name (i.e. a nickname or name of business), you must let us know! FJC sends us a report of payments made to our PayPal account but requires that they match the REAL FULL NAMES of winning bidders (for tax receipt purposes)!
POST AUCTION SHIPPING DETAILS
1) Winning bidders are responsible for ALL CGL auction item shipping costs; amounts are included on itemized invoices.
2) Winning bidders with shipping addresses outside of the U.S. are responsible for ANY/ALL Customs and Import Duties upon CGL package arrival, which varies by country. We have no way to know in advance what these fees will be.
3) Because CGL is a 1-person operation, and FJC has to verify and process payments from 100-200 different winning bidders, please note: it will take 4 WEEKS after you've paid your invoices before we are able to start shipping out items to winning bidders in the 2024 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction! In order to avoid fraud, which sadly has been an issue for CGL in the past, we take extra time to confirm absolutely every aspect of each winning bidder’s payment information.
4) When possible, we combine shipping when multiple items are purchased by the same buyer. If one item requires a poster tube and another requires a box or flat, we will have to ship two separate packages to one buyer. Please note that multiple auction items in one box will increase the price of shipping.
5) All packages will include both insurance and tracking.
6) All overseas shipments are usually insured against loss, damage, or missing contents up to $200, but it is prohibitively expensive to add on additional insurance.
7) Shipping notifications with tracking info will be emailed to winning bidders when items are shipped out.
8) To save money and to help the environment, we use repurposed packaging for most auction shipments. So while your auction shipping box may not be pretty on the outside, it’s what’s inside that counts!
9) Each item in the CGL 2024 Online Charity Auction will be accompanied by a CGL Certificate of Authenticity.
10) If you happen to live within an hour of Boston, MA and you’re interested in saving money on shipping - we can arrange to meet up with you at a convenient, safe location to deliver your items in person in late June! OR! If you’re attending SDCC in July or the Getting LOST Documentary premiere in LA in the fall – if items you win are small, we can bring them to you at those events (also saving you money on shipping). Just let us know!
WE HAVE TO GIVE BACK!
After ALL payments have been verified (by FJC) AND winning bidders have received their auction items, 100% of the auction proceeds from the 2024 Cancer Gets Lost Online Charity Auction will be donated to the children’s brain cancer charity Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation!
If didn’t win an item in our auction but you’d like to kindly make a donation in any amount to the PBTF – we appreciate the consideration! You can either donate via their site directly or via CGL, and we will then designate that 100% of your contribution will be included in our final post-auction donation to the PBTF.
THANK YOU!
We are tremendously grateful for your kind support of CGL and the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation! Your bids and donations will be profoundly impactful for children’s brain cancer research, young cancer survivors and their families.
Thank you to everyone that donated items, retweeted or shared promotional auction information on their social networks, registered to bid and/or won items in our online charity auction! Cancer Gets Lost exists because of positive intent and the collective kindness of fans around the world. We appreciate your participation and hope to see you again next year for our 2025 Online Charity Auction of rare and signed items from a wide variety of TV shows and films!
With genuine gratitude,
Jo Garfein (Co-Founder, Cancer Gets Lost)
