Getting LOST World Premiere: Charity Auctions & Gratitude!

John Locke said it best. “We’re going to need to watch that again.”

Trust me when I tell you that if you’re even a very casual LOST fan, you’re going to fall in love with the show all over again after you watch the feature-length documentary film Getting LOST!

The World Premiere screenings of Getting LOST took place last weekend in Los Angeles, where fans from around the world gathered to spend time together before, during and after the screenings.

CGL was lucky enough to be involved with the film and their fundraising campaign from the beginning. At each GL screening in LA, we were kindly provided the opportunity to host a live charity auction - where we raised a grand total of $7300 for the Lymphoma Research Foundation (see below for more details)!

Huge shout-out of gratitude to GL’s Director Taylor Morden, Producers Ralph and Emily, and the entire documentary team for their very kind inclusion of CGL both at the screenings and in the film itself. This is a significant and impactful action, because people around the globe that see the documentary will become aware of what we do - and their future participation in CGL charity auctions will make an actual difference in the lives of cancer patients and their families!

[By the way, if you attended our CGL LOST Fan Meet-Up at the series finale church on Oahu in April – footage of that event is featured briefly in the documentary!]

Screen shot of (CGL Co-Founder) Jo's name in the opening credits of Getting LOST!

Personal note: I have the great honor of being one Getting LOST’s Producers; a role that I will cherish forever! It is quite surreal to see your own name in the credits, and absolutely mind-blowing to see yourself on the big screen getting to talk about your life’s greatest work and passion. AND…the GL team surprised me by featuring a few tremendously lovely humans saying very kind words about CGL in the movie as well. I really appreciate that they kept that part a surprise for me to see live at the premiere. I might have cried. Spoiler alert: I did!

CGL LIVE CHARITY AUCTIONS!

Jo with Lynne & her daughters after winning the signed LOST script at the World Premiere of Getting LOST on Sept 22!

Massive thanks to Lynne L, who had the highest bid in our September 22 Live Charity Auction at the Getting LOST World Premiere. She won a LOST Pilot script signed by 11 of the cast, donating $5000 to the Lymphoma Research Foundation! An astoundingly generous contribution to an essential cancer charity that we are honored to support.

And massive thanks to Steven V, who had the highest bid in our September 23 Live Charity Auction. He won a cast/crew exclusive LOST yearbook, donating $2300 to the LRF!

This particular cancer charity means the world to myself and to my family, so I was very touched by the spectacular generosity of these two!

We had no idea how well these auctions would be received, knowing just how much money fans spent to attend the screenings. To say that we were overwhelmed with gratitude for both of our auction winners is an understatement.

We would also like to thank the fans that made small donations to the LRF while they were in town for the screenings! A few were able to receive limited edition CGL lapel pins at the theater. :)

FUTURE CGL CHARITY AUCTIONS

Phil Shelly's Getting LOST film poster on display at the World Premiere (Sept 22 & 23 at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills, CA)

Thank you to the LOST cast who attended the Getting LOST World Premiere and took the time to sign a Premiere poster for a future CGL charity auction! The poster was created by the incredible Phil Shelly, and the one we had signed was kindly donated to CGL by the Getting LOST team. Phil will be selling a limited number of these posters (see image above) starting next week, so make sure to follow @PhilShelly on Twitter and @PhilShellyCreative on Instagram!

The Premiere poster we received is now signed by: Andrew Divoff (Mikhail/Patchy), Andrea Gabriel (Nadia), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Maggie Grace (Shannon), Malcolm David Kelley (Walt), Bai Ling (Achara), Tania Raymonde (Alex Rousseau Linus) and Sean Whalen (Frogurt)! Many of the actors also signed one the smaller Premiere posters featuring the film’s logo, which were handed out to all attendees. We will post photos of both signed posters soon.

Other LOST items were generously donated by fans and cast/crew to CGL during the Premiere weekend, so keep an eye out for those in upcoming auctions as well!

When Can You Watch Getting LOST?

For all Getting LOST documentary information and answers, please follow them on Twitter and Instagram, and visit their site!

The film will be featured at both the Hawaii International Film Festival and the Serielizados Festival (Barcelona) next month, and it will be playing in theaters across Canada starting November 3! While it would be fantastic if Getting LOST was also able to open in theaters in the U.S. sooner than later, the team is finalizing the film for worldwide distribution and then weighing their distribution options. This does take some time. We all appreciate your patience in advance; it will be well worth your wait!

After the festivals, at some point in the near future – a digital copy of Getting LOST will be distributed to the film’s Indiegogo backers. Once they finish producing the Blu-ray version for the backers, the team will see if there are any leftover Blu-ray copies to sell. Then at some point down the line, Getting LOST will be made available digitally to non-backers!

When is the next CGL Charity Auction?

While we’ve already hosted two very successful online charity auctions and two very successful live charity auctions this year, we are NOT done fundraising for the Lymphoma Research Foundation in 2024!

No details and dates right now, but know that we are working on a LOST poster auction, featuring small-to-large sized rare LOST prints and posters! It will be a smaller CGL online charity auction, and we are working on shipping estimates right now in the hopes that we can open bidding to international fans too! We aim to host this auction with plenty of time to ship out the posters to winning bidders before Christmas. Stay tuned!

Thank you all (everybody) for your kind collective support of CGL and the cancer charities we fundraise for! Without you, none of this would be possible.

Cheers,

Jo
